Greetings and welcome to my blog for BCM110!
My name is Blake Justin Stanbridge and I am studying Communications and Media this year at UOW. I am 18 and have always lived around the Illawarra, currently residing in the Northern suburbs! I have recently just graduated from Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts, where I was both a music and drama student and am now eager to begin my studies at UOW. I have always been an avid reader and had a keen interest in media and communications. Ideally, once I graduate I would love to work in Public Relations, but that could very well chop and change as my degree progresses and as I continue to broaden my understanding and skills. I also hope to travel the world, Europe in particular and would also love the spend time studying abroad!
My passions include music, acting, reading, history and watching TV shows. I also believe myself to be creative, ambitious and quite competitive person. I do look forward to meeting more people throughout this year as well!
I am also an active user of social media, mostly Instagram (@blakejstanbridge), Facebook and Tumblr and I look forward to exploring and developing this blog now as well! I hopefully aim to share and write about my thoughts and experiences, as well as further dissecting what we learn in our lectures! Now I won’t be patronising in what I write about (that means talking down to), so interpret what you read as you will!
Now to finish in the words of my favourite poetess, Sylvia Plath,
‘Everything in life is writeable about, if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt’.
